STASIS began as a typical Still Life project. While editing, it transformed into something more mysterious, alien. It was almost as if I was documenting another planet or a world yet discovered.
In the end, I found myself back at where I started, still life photography. However, my interpretation of it was altogether different. I have found life in something that has none.
“Examine the details. Intense light. Mid-air. Frozen in time. Captured for eternity.”
“The sky, the tree, the water, everything absorbed by the creature that never consumed enough. And the beauty that resulted from this tragedy.”
“In haste, they flee, from an incoming intruder aware of their hidden lair.”
“I could travel to another world to find the most unimaginable scene yet discovered. Instead, I found one here, on Earth.”
“Clones? Twins? Siblings.”
“A picture inside of a picture. A world inside of a world. Perhaps a moon, in a way that I have never seen it before. A wonder in the palm of my hand.”
“Tiny. Small. Unaware. Cute and beginning to grow into its own. A glimpse of new life.”
“Silence. Interconnected. Not alone.”
“Ignoring all else, focusing on the one clear trail that leads everywhere I need to go.”
“Light fades to shadows and splashes of color. The depths of the lair.”
