I plan to unveil the next Photography Series here on Monday. It includes eight scenes, one of which I featured as a solo image several months ago. I “finally” edited the other photos from the same shoot and arranged them in a way that a clear story is told. I hope everyone likes it.
People have asked me how I take photographs of myself like this. Self-timer. Years of practice, like anything else. Once the composition is set, you’re free to do whatever you want. I tend to work better a night. This particular shoot began at 2am. It’s quiet; everyone’s asleep (like I was supposed to be) so there’s no traffic to be concerned about. I needed one scene from this project for a class scheduled later the same day. Yes, I was partly inspired by “last-minute panic.”
This morning, I said farewell to my external LG monitor. For the passed week or so, it’s had a hard time turning “on” and I suppose it’s just had it with my photo editing adventures. I purchased it in the Fall of 2011.
That said, everything is being done on my laptop, which I purchased in the same month as the monitor. So, I’ll be even more focused on making sure all of my files are backed up on external drives, some in Cloud Storage (though I’m not crazy about Cloud Storage with all the hacking incidents floating around lately). Also, the photos & files I’ll never use will be erased to make room for even better work. 🙂
I have to say “thank you” to those who Follow my work. When I separated the categories of my work into their own blogs, I didn’t expect many (if any) of you to follow my work on more than one. But you are & that’s awesome. I’m grateful.
I put so much time and effort into my work because I believe it can encourage someone, inspire someone, or bring up subjects we need to talk about, but don’t because it’s uncomfortable. “Shelter” fits into this purpose. I’d better get back to work.
Happy Friday Eve.
