I used to judge them from afar
Gamblers. Sinners. A rebellious lot.
All of them.
Spending nickle and dime and more
One machine after the next

Smoke-filled rooms
Poker tables
A roll of the dice
A pull of the slot machine
I was so better than them

But then, through a walk
Down the casino halls
I looked closer
To not see rebellion at all

Long sighs
Sad faces
Desperate paces

Searching for hope
Because they found none
Trusting in the machine
Because no one really cares
That life isn’t fair

The Judgement fell upon me
Because I failed to see
A bolt of lightning won’t heal a hurt
Only love can
