Worn Leaf

FLORAL | Worn Leaf

I think it’s important that you wake up in the morning with a sense of excitement about the day ahead. You should be able to embrace it. And if you don’t, you have to look for ways to change it. It’s tough to change your life…to make it what you want it to be.

I’ve found that when I create art, no matter the subject, it gives me that fuel needed to move forward. Even when things are tough in life, I maintain the determination to keep going. I can slow down; I can take a break. But I do not quit. Art has really become one of the constants that I lean on.

When I share work with you guys, I really want it to be good. I want it to be professional enough for someone to say, “I want that on my wall.” With so many great artists in several different disciplines, it was tough for me to really put myself into this category. Yet, it’s a challenge I enjoy.

I guess I don’t look at being better than someone, though, I do try to rank myself in comparisons to others’ work. I see where I can get better, how I can improve. But anytime I try to mimic someone else’s style, it doesn’t work for me. Of course, I can be inspired by others, but I can’t become them.

Putting the online store back together has been great because I get to see how each art piece looks on a different item. Sometimes, a piece looks great on several products while some pieces are more suitable only as framed prints. I’ve had to treat each scene as an individual opposed to the one style fits all approach.

For those who have purchased an item featuring my work, I would love if you’d share a photo of it with yourself included. I have purchased some of my own work on different products to make sure the quality is good, but it’s a small fraction compared to what is actually available.

Thank you again for all the support. I’m really looking forward to Thanksgiving. I’d better go grocery shopping now because tomorrow into Thursday will be crazy.
