So That I Could Dream | MLK, Jr. Day

"Dream" by Eric Christopher Jackson
I don’t have many heroes… people that I look up to in history, although quite a few are deserving. Perhaps, I may be a bit cynical, but I generally see everyone on the same plane. Martin Luther King, Jr. is one of the exceptions.

Of course, many people remain nameless who contributed to the peaceful demonstrations of the Civil Rights movement. However, every cause needs a leader and I feel like he was one of the best in World History. Humility is strength under control. He personified this. I would not have fared as well in the same situation.

They all worked so hard for future generations to have the opportunities they did not. Now, I can only follow my own dreams while realizing my full potential. It’s the best way for me to say ‘thank you’ to them all.

Some dreams do come true.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convienience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
